By considering all possible risks and the prevention methods put in place before filming will help us save alot of valuable time when filming as without injury all the scenes will be able to be filmed on schedule.
How will the risk assessment assist you with filming?
From setting up precautions to take whilst filming will help us be more organised when filming at the extra props needed that are behind the scenes to the film. For example, as a result of the risk assessment table I now know we need to buy gaffer tape to secure down leads and find a type of cushion or matress available for our actor to fall on without injuring himself. As both of these props will not seen on camera before making the table I didn't think of getting them and so if we only realised at a later date when filming time would be lost trying to solve the problems.
Description of hazard
|
Prevention of hazard
|
Someone
could trip or fall over trailing leads while filming.
|
Use
gaffer tape to secure leads to the ground.
|
Our
prop of choice, a knife, is real so someone handling the knife could be
seriously injured if they were to fall whilst filming the scenes with it.
|
The
knife should be held properly and only handled for the amount of time
necessary to film the scene.
|
Falling
over during the running scenes
|
We
need to make sure that the path they are going to be running on is clear with
no tripping hazards present
|
The
camera being dropped and damaged
|
When
the camera is in use of not we need to make sure that it is attached to the
tripod securely and with hand held shots we need to strap the camera to us as
well as being cautious
|
Getting
hurt in some of the scenes
|
We
have intentionally included a scene where the main actor goes to run away but
falls over. To ensure he isn’t injured we need to set up something soft for
him to fall on.

This demonstrates some understanding of why a risk assessment is essential to carry out, while planning a production. You have considered some of the potential risks above, but did you counter anymore, while you were filming?
