Production roles (Miss Miller)

1. Why people need to be allocated specific roles when creating a film?
It is important that people are allocated different roles as each member needs to have the same responsability to make sure that each element in our film has been carefully thought about and not overlooked, which could of happened if one person had been incharge of everything, as roles would have been prioritses leaving other roles to suffer. As well as this everyone needs to feel included in our group and that we are all there to help eachother so by sharing the workload it puts less pressure on certain members of the group and ensures each element is completed correctly.

2. How did you decide who would be doing what?
Through working together as a group for a while we now have a better understanding of each other and so now can play to peoples strengths so that the best people are allocated to each role. This is so the overall film and clip will be of the best quality we can as we are taking the best of what eachother bring to the group to ensure the final clip is effective as as professonal as possible as to be effective the audience needs to believe our narrative which will not happen if our clip looks ammeture.

3. What is each person resposible for and why?
When it came to allocating roles it was decided that I should be the producer. This is because I am the best visualiser of the group and so was able to create the bigger picture. Due to this we ended up filming at my house as I knew it would be in the perfect location.

We chose to nominate Ravinder Cheema as the director as she is clear at giving instructions and is good at directing people roles and giving them jobs to do without sounding bossy. We needed someone like this as the group needed someone affermative to give out roles without offending people as it is important we all get along and listen to what eachother have to say.

At first the main actor or actress was supposed to me as we were playing to the thriller stereotype of a blonde female victim however when it came to filming my lack of drama and acting experience made me feel asthough the clip was suffering as the narrative was not believeable. Because of this we decided to adapt and break the codes and conventions by using a mutual friend, Reece Davey as the main actor and instead create a blonde male victim as he was able to make the character and storyline more believeable and therefore effective for the audience.

The music producer of the group James Barry. This is due to the fact that out of the group he has the largest interest in music and so would be most effective and knowledgeable about what tune to create and how it can be created. This is because we wanted to play up to the group strengths and so by choosing James it allows him a chance to shine and create something for the group that he is good at benefiting him as he carrys out a role he is happy and comfortable doing and benefitting the group as he would be able to make the better track for the group.

I became the screenplay writer as I took home the story board and filled it out as I am good at coming up with the whole picture and elements of the scene as I am quite detailed and so would make sure all elements have been thought about.

MES Co-ordinators were chosen as me and Ravinder Cheema. I took home the story board and filled it out as I am good at coming up with the whole picture and elements of the scene as I am quite detailed and so would make sure all elements have been thought about. This was also as the filming would take place in my house and so obviously I had a better idea of the props and lighting that could be achieved and were available. Once I filled it out me and Ravinder then worked together to create and get props to put in the house and how to create certain elements of each scene.

We all decided to edit our clip as we are all ammetures at editing and so none of us stood out to become lead editor. Therefore we all thought we would share the work load and work together to create something correctly edited and effective as through working together we should be able to out weigh our lack of knowledge on the matter.

4. How will this make filming and editing easier?
This will allow our filming to be quicker as by each being allocated to a role we feel comfortable in we can carry out our roles quickly and efficently which will make our time filming more productive.
In turn this will make editing easier as we will have less clips to seive through as less mistakes will be made when filming meaning that we will have better clips to choose from which makes the editing stage easier and quicker.

5. How well did each person do?
Each person was happy and comfortable in their allocated roles which meant everyone got on with what had to be done however we were all comfortable with helping eachother and suggesting our own ideas to help.

  1. You have provided a good analysis of the various production roles allocated within your group, stating why each person was allocated their roles etc.

You could elaborate further on the success of each person and their roles by stating what they did particularly well, and any issues you came across as a group etc.
