1. What is the purpose of your characters with your film?
The main character in my film, who stereotypically is a blonde female victim, is very important as they help the audience relate to the film as all humans experience similar emotions and so the audience can understand how the actor feels so they too feel although they are in the film. As a result of this the blonde female victim helps create an innocent character so the audience can express maximum empathy towards them. This is very important as an audience needs to build a relationship with them in order to emotionally connect to the film. This makes them experience the scenarios more and therefore be affected by the shock and surprise factors more which is crucial in a thriller film.
2. Describe your characters and their roles within your sequence, explaining how they are stereotypical of the thriller genre?
What are your characters? In my film we have a blonde female victim as our main character and a poltergeist. The less direct roles also feature a stranger who walks down the street.
What do they look like? The main actress in a female and 17 years old. This is because our target audience is around the 15-18 age group and so this character will relate to them.
What is their background? Our girl is a student who has just returned home from school. Again this is to ensure our character is relatable to our target audience as many of them if not all will be a form of student.
How will you ensure they are stereotypical characters of the thriller genre? We have achieved this by using a blonde female victim.
3. How has planning the characters be helpful in preparation for filming?
This has been very helpful as we now have a clear idea of what characters to use and their purpose.
This is a very basic analysis of your characters, simply stating what they look like etc. without explaining the purpose of having certain conventions etc.
ReplyDelete1) State why you have chosen to use these characters and what you hope they will create for the audience
2) How will the audience be able to build a relationship with them/relate to them as a result?
3) Elaborate on your points further by thinking of conventions of the genre etc.
